- What 925 means
- Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver, solid the whole way through. Plated and filled jewellery is a thin silver layer over brass it wears off. Ours cannot, because there is nothing underneath.
- What the hallmark guarantees
- A UK hallmark is a legal assay, not a marketing claim. An independent Assay Office tests the metal and stamps it. If a piece is not hallmarked, nobody has checked it.
- Why silver darkens, and how to fix it
- Silver reacts with air, moisture and perfume and dulls over time. That is tarnish, not damage, and it polishes straight out. Keep it dry, take it off before you swim, and buff it with a silver cloth.
